This is a Soft Arkansas whetstone. The soft Ark. stone is a medium grit (400-600 grit) natural sharpening stone that is found only around Hot Springs, Arkansas. This stone will actually polish the edge as it sharpens which will give one of the finest edges possible. It is appx. 4" x 1 1/2" x 1/2" and is a high quality cosmetic 2nd grade. It may have minor cracks, chips, color variations, sand pits or other minor flaws which should not affect its use.
